Deleting your account & data

Last updated: 26 July 2026 · Draft 0.2

Draft — pending legal review. Not yet approved by counsel. These instructions describe how account deletion actually works in KoirApp today, corrected against the code. They are being finalised alongside the Privacy Policy before launch.

You can request deletion of your KoirApp account at any time, directly in the app. Once it has run, deletion cannot be undone.

Delete in the app (fastest)

  1. Open KoirApp and sign in.
  2. Go to My Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
  4. Confirm.

It does not happen immediately — there is a 7-day grace period

Confirming sets your account for deletion; nothing is deleted at that moment. After 7 days the erasure runs automatically on a scheduled job that runs once a day, so it takes effect shortly after the seventh day rather than at an exact time.

You can cancel at any point during those 7 days in the app. Only an explicit cancellation stops it — simply signing in again does not.

What gets deleted

  • Your account and profile — login, email, display name, avatar.
  • Your registered devices and their push tokens, your in-app notifications, and your household acknowledgements.
  • Any household where you are the only member — including its dogs, care logs, schedules, health records, photos and history.
  • Your analytics profile at PostHog, your customer record at RevenueCat if you had one, and your stored photos. These run as a queued job that retries until each provider confirms.

What stays — and why

In a shared household, deleting your account does not remove what you contributed.

  • Shared households are not deleted. The care logs, notes, health entries and costs you recorded remain with that household for its other members. Your authorship of them is replaced with an anonymous marker, so the records no longer point to you — but the records themselves stay.
  • A de-identified subscription/payment record is kept for accounting purposes (approximately 6 years). It contains no name or email.
  • An audit-log entry noting that an account was deleted, with no link to you.
  • Your support messages and feedback, de-identified, kept as product signal.
  • The email address attached to a feedback message, if you ticked the box asking us to contact you about it. That email is stored on the feedback record itself, separately from your account, and is not removed when your account is deleted.
  • Revision history and correction records attached to entries that survive, de-identified.

Full detail is in §13 of the Privacy Policy.

Want a copy first? Export your data as a JSON file from the app before you delete. Note that the export does not yet include every category — see the Privacy Policy — so email us if you need the rest.

Prefer email?

If you can't access the app, email koirapp@oakko.app from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll verify and complete the deletion.

Just want to leave one household?

Open My household → Leave household to remove yourself without deleting your whole account. Leaving has no grace period — your access ends at once, so export your data first if you want a copy. As above, what you contributed stays with the household, de-identified.
