1. These terms

KoirApp is provided by Oakko Oy. These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Oakko governing your use of the App. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of your use of the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding contract and to consent to the processing of personal data. In Finland the age of digital consent is 13; KoirApp's final minimum age is being confirmed with counsel and will be stated here. The App is for personal, non-commercial use to help you and your household care for your own dogs.

3. Your account

You sign in with an email and password. Keep your credentials secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
You're responsible for the content you add (dog details, notes, photos, health records) and for having the right to add it.
One person, one account. Don't impersonate others.

4. What KoirApp does — and the important disclaimer

KoirApp helps households record and coordinate daily dog care — logging feeding, walks and medications, keeping a health record and dog passport, setting reminders, and optionally sharing care with other members or a trusted sitter household.

KoirApp is not veterinary advice and is not a medical device.

The App is a convenience and record-keeping tool, not a source of veterinary, medical, nutritional or dosing advice. Always rely on your veterinarian for your dog's health and treatment decisions.

Reminders and dosing schedules are conveniences, not a safety guarantee. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device and can be delayed or missed for reasons outside our control (your phone being off, battery-saver or Do-Not-Disturb modes, notification permissions, device clock issues). They must not be relied on to prevent missed or double doses. You are solely responsible for your dog's actual care. In an emergency, contact a veterinarian — not the App.

5. Sharing and the sitter feature

Households: members share access to that household's dogs, records and logs. Only invite people you trust, and only join households you trust.
Sitter handoff: you can grant another logged-in household temporary, scoped access to a specific dog. You choose what is shared and can end it at any time. You may only hand off dogs from your own household; a sitter cannot pass a dog on to a third household.
Shared content stays with the household. If you leave a household or delete your account, content you contributed to a shared household remains with that household for its other members.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App unlawfully or to infringe others' rights; not to upload content you don't have the right to upload; not to attempt to access data, dogs or households you weren't granted; not to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload or probe the App; and not to misuse the sitter feature to gain access you're not entitled to.

7. Subscriptions, billing and renewals

Free and paid tiers. KoirApp offers a free tier and paid tiers that unlock more dogs, the full history, and the health record. Current tiers and prices are shown in the App and on our home page.
Free trial. New households start with a 30-day free trial of full access.
Billing via Apple. Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store under Apple's terms. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. We do not process or store your payment details.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings → Subscriptions.
Refunds are subject to Apple's policy and requested from Apple. EU statutory withdrawal-right wording is being finalised given Apple is the seller of record.
Downgrade / non-payment. If a paid tier ends, your account returns to the free tier. Data over the free limits is retained but locked (not deleted) until you upgrade or delete it.

8. Your content

You keep all rights to the content you add. You grant Oakko a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display your content solely to provide the App for you and the members/sitters you share with. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell it.

9. Our intellectual property

The App, its software, design and branding (“KoirApp”, logos) are owned by Oakko or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App under these Terms. You may not use our branding without permission.

10. Availability and “as is”

We work to keep the App reliable, but provide it “as is” and “as available”. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reminders will always fire (see §4). We may add, change or remove features, including for security and compatibility.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time in My Settings → Delete my account. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach or to protect users or the Service; where reasonable and lawful, we'll give notice and a chance to fix the issue. Data handling on deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oakko is not liable for harm to your dog, missed or double medication doses, missed care, or loss arising from reliance on the App, including reminders (see §4). Our total liability is being finalised with counsel. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory rights as a consumer under Finnish and EU law.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of your country of residence. You may refer a dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi) after first contacting our customer service, and may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform where available.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. We'll post the updated version with a new date and, for material changes, notify you in the App or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
